The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is available to students in five West African countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, and Liberia. The WAEC exam is conducted once a year, generally in May or June, and it includes a variety of subjects such as Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry. The exam is divided into two categories, the WASSCE for school candidates and the WASSCE for private candidates.

To be eligible for the WAEC exam, you must meet the following criteria:

    1. Be a secondary school student in one of the five WAEC member countries.
    2. Have completed or be in your final year of secondary school education.
    3. Have obtained the necessary credits in your core subjects as specified by your country’s education board.


To register for the WAEC exam in 2024/2025, you need to meet the following requirements:

    1. Completed or be in your final year of secondary school.
    2. Obtain a National Identification Number (NIN). No candidate can register for the WAEC exam without an NIN. If you don’t have one, visit any NIMC Registration center near you to obtain it.
    3. Provide valid personal information, including names, gender, date of birth, addresses, states of origin, and nationalities.
    4. Have a valid passport photograph, fingerprint, phone number, and email address.
    5. Choose the nine subjects you want to write in your WAEC exam.
    6. Pay the WAEC exam fee, which may vary depending on the school or examination center you choose.
